Does checking my own credit score lower it?
No. Checking your own score or report is a soft inquiry and is never counted.
How often is my score updated?
Every time it is calculated. Most lenders report to the bureaus once a month, so a score can change monthly or even more often.
Can I get a credit score with no credit history?
FICO usually needs at least one account open for six months and reported in the last six months. VantageScore can often score thinner files.
Will paying off a loan raise my score?
Not always right away. Closing an installment loan can slightly reduce your credit mix. Paying down card balances usually has a bigger, faster effect.
How long do late payments stay on my report?
Seven years from the date of the late payment, but their impact shrinks over time, especially after the first two years.
Is a 650 credit score bad?
It is in the “fair” FICO band. Many lenders will approve you, but at higher rates than for scores above about 700.
Do you offer credit repair or loans?
No. NetCreditScore only publishes information. We do not sell anything, take referral fees from lenders, or ask for your personal financial details.
